Carrie Field began her Pilates career in 1993 at a San Francisco Chiropractic office where she apprenticed and became a rehabilitation specialist. In 1995 she received her Pilates Certification through Madeline Black (at the time The Physicalmind Institute). Formerly a Professional Dancer, Carrie established her San Francisco Pilates practice and studio in 1996. In 2002 she relocated to Taos, New Mexico and opened Taos Pilates Studio.

Carrie has a B.A. in Dance from the New College of California and a Yoga Certification from It’s Yoga San Francisco. In the 1990’s Carrie had the great fortune to attend two intensives with Julio Horvath, the creator of Gyrotonic®. Since moving to New Mexico Carrie has had the honor to study Gyrotonic® with Celia Hulton, Bradley Kreamer and Echo Gustafson. In 2005 she received her Certification to teach on the Gyrotonic Expansion System®. Currently she is enrolled in Tias Little’s Yoga Teacher Training Program. Carrie’s style of teaching is influenced by her years of study with Madeline Black, Mercy Sidbury, and intensive study with Anna Helprin.

Carrie has taught Pilates, Yoga and specialized workshops across the U.S. and Canada, including U.C. Santa Cruz, the Taos Pueblo and the Colorado River shore in the Grand Canyon.

Carrie has a strong commitment to continually refreshing her education resulting in the most current industry knowledge for her clients and a passionate approach to her work.


Terry McClymond a native New Mexican, has resided in Taos, New Mexico since 1981. A fitness professional for the past 15 years, she is an avid skier, cyclist, outdoor enthusiast, certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor and spinning instructor. Realizing a missing dimension to conventional physical training, she turned to pilates to provide the core strength and flexibility absent from most fitness programs. Terry received her Pilates mat certification through AAAI and The Physicalmind Institute, continued her pilates training with Michelle Larsson and received her pilates apparatus certification from Core Dynamics in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She started working with Taos Pilates Studio in 2002.


Susan Arbuckle first came to Taos Pilates Studio in 2004 as a client.Shortly thereafter she became an apprentice instructor to Carrie Field. In June of 2005, she completed her certification program through Core Dynamics Pilates and is now certified to teach the classical Pilates Method as developed by Joseph Pilates. In addition, she is Mat certified through a program taught at Taos Pilates Studio by Carrie Field. Since becoming certified, Susan continues to participate in advanced Pilates workshops which focus on exercises using all the Pilates equipment and exercises for specific body issues or injuries. She maintains professional memberships in the Pilates Method Alliance and Idea Health and Fitness.


Ivy Baron has been an avid student of Pilates for over 3 years. She was certified through Core Dynamics in Santa Fe, New Mexico in the Summer of 2006. Ivy's movement background includes yoga and circus arts, such as trapeze and stilt-walking. In the future she hopes to incooporate her background in Social Work with her pilates training to create a movement based therapy program.
